DOGust 1st®: The Official Birthday of All Rescue Dogs

Your dog is your best friend, so you want to celebrate their birthday. But what if you don't know their birthday?

No problem! DOGust is the universal shelter pet birthday, celebrated on August 1st each year. This holiday was created by North Shore Animal League America in 2008 to ensure that all dogs, even those without known birthdays, get to have a special day.

So on DOGust, go all out for your furry friend! Give them a new toy, a delicious treat, or even a trip to the park. And don't forget to take some time to cuddle and tell them how much you love them.

Here are some ideas for celebrating DOGust:

Throw a party for your dog and their furry friends.
Make a donation to your local shelter or rescue in your dog's name.
Volunteer at your local shelter or rescue.
Adopt a new furry friend!
Bake a dog-friendly cake or cupcakes.
Take your dog to the park for a special playtime.
Give your dog a new toy or treat.
Snuggle up with your dog and watch their favorite movie.
Write your dog a special birthday card.
