How to Change Your Dog or Cat’s Food
Because Rachael Ray® Nutrish™ dog and cat food may offer different ingredients than your pet is used to, it may take up to 10 days for your dog or cat’s system to become acclimated.
Slowly mix with other food over a five-to ten-day period until your dog or cat is solely eating Rachael Ray® Nutrish™ pet food. Once they are only eating Rachael Ray® Nutrish™, keep in mind that feeding guidelines on the bag are just a guide. Your dog’s or cat’s individual needs will vary based upon his/her size, activity level and even age. However, be sure not to overfeed because overfeeding is a common source of digestive upset.
Be sure to check your dog and cat’s weight and adjust feeding levels to maintain a healthy weight. And don’t forget to see your vet regularly.
Days 1-3 mix 75% of your dog or cat’s current diet with 25% of their new Rachael Ray® Nutrish™ food.
Days 4-6 mix 50% of your dog or cat’s current diet with 50% of their new Rachael Ray® Nutrish™ food.
Days 7-9 mix 25% of your dog or cat’s current diet with 75% of their new Rachael Ray® Nutrish™ food.
After day 10, your dog or cat should be fully acclimated to their new Rachael Ray® Nutrish™ food.
When Do I Start to Switch My Pet’s Food?
You can start the switch as soon as you find a nutritious Rachael Ray® Nutrish™ dog or cat food you know they’ll love.
Signs to Monitor in Your Pet
While you are making the switch to Nutrish, be sure to monitor your dog or cat closely during the transition period.
Please consult your veterinarian if your pet has any difficulty transitioning foods.
